Movie review - Thamilukku en moondrai aluthavum

After a long hiatus, back to my blogspot.

Watch Thamilukku en moondrai aluthavum movie for sheer pleasure. Full of fun. Genre is thriller. Movie carries an awesome storyline with good characters.

Nakul has proved his mettle as an actor once again, in my honest opinion. His mom, Oorvasi, has done an extraordinary acting as usual.

Enjoyed to the hilt.

Tatasky set top box No Signal issue

Yesterday, Tata sky set top box stopped working on its own.

While powering on the set top box, it was not responding. Only red and orange(or yellow) lights were glowing. Ideally while we press Power button in the tata sky remote, green light will start glowing.

Unplugged, SAT-in, power card and audio, video jacks. Replugged them all. Still issue persisted.

Checked for loose connection from Dish. Could not find any such loose connection.

Did a chat online with tatasky. Raised a request.

Installer came and did the following.

Remove the power cord from set top box, while keeping other cords in. In tata sky remote control, he pressed back button 4 times and pressed 2485 numbers in the order. Then inserted the power cord in to the set top box. Software started to update. And thats it.

This was purely a software issue with the set top box.

Possibly when an update was being done, power went off in my home and the software update was stuck.

Dec 24

Got this drafted long long ago. Just posting it today :)
-----------------------------------------------------
The day started in office :-) I was working in 2 pm - 11 pm shift on Thursday (23rd Dec). At around 9 o clock I got a work. I had to install Avicode in QA servers for DU(Deloitte University). I had installed it long long back. So I had to refresh my memory. I had the document.

The task is of two parts.
1. Installation of the software in the server.
2. Assigning a license to the server from the interface.

I completed the installation of the software in two servers(non share point). While assigning the license I assigned production license. I was using the production interface. I had no clue I had to a different URL for non-production. One of my X managers came to the rescue. Was in a conference call for 2 hours sharing the screen. Somehow revoked the license from few servers and assigned them to four more share point servers.

It took 2 am on 24th Dec to complete this task. In the mean time I went to Barista and had two Frappe and a veg puff :-) Had to drop a colleague also at home.

Reached home around 2 am and started reading "Theodore Boone" by 'John Grisham'. Slept while reading. I prefer this type of sleeping because I don't like forcing sleep. It should come on its own :-) Slept from 3 - 7 am. After that I could not sleep. I had to attend a class by 10.30 am. So got ready and started riding on my Suzuki Access 125. Petrol was low. But I was sure it is sufficient to ride till I reach the end point. When I was on the way to Kondapur I met with a slight accident. I was very lucky that it was only slight. But this is the first accident after purchasing my bike in Oct 2009. A car was on my right. He suddenly took a left without any indication. The back of the car hit the front of my Access. I lost control and was dragged toward the left side of the road. On my left was a bullet :-) The dragging bike hit the bullet. And my bike started dragging toward the middle of the road now. But I got balance now :-) I did not apply brake when all this happened. It all happened within a second. I need to say fraction of a second. Obviously the "bullet" guy should be angry with me. Fortunately nothing happened to him also. I slowed down. He did not say a word to me understanding that it was not my fault. He overtook the car and hit hard on the window of the driver seat. He was driving alone. By this time I also wanted to give left and right to the car driver. So I over took him on the left and honked horn like anything. Finally he decided to stop the car. He came out. He was such an idiot. Before talking to me he went around his car and confirmed that no damage was done to his car. Then he came to me. I told him he should not drive like this. He told that he was in a hurry and also told he has to reach f__king office in time. He literally used the F word. I knew he was tensed when I made him stop the car. I said "God bless you","Get lost". He went a little ahead and turned back saying something. I told "Get lost".

Messed up pudhina Chutney !

My first blog in 2012 and it is about an art called cooking :)

Yes it is 12 mid night and I had my dinner !

This has been a routine for some time now to have dinner late night. I am supposed to eat home food and I am the only person who could cook for me ( at least for few more months) :) So I am preparing late as I am little less lazy especially in weekend. I am just trying to cook new dishes apart from the recipes I got from my maternal aunt.

I recently read about pudina chutney recipe from a cook blog (http://vidyascooking.blogspot.com). So I thought I will give a try on it today. The procedure is so simple. Mix mint, coriander, garlic, chilly in a mixer. Add salt and cumin and grind again. Add water if needed.

Sounds very simple right ? But I ordinarily messed it up by adding more water and salt :) I then had to use it as less as I could for chappathi :(

Lot more to learn in this art called cooking !

Cooking is fun. It is only that you need patience and lot of patience. Toughest part in cooking is cleaning utensils and maintaining them :( It is the only difficult thing for me w.r.t. cooking. Hope I will get used to it soon.

Next time for mint chutney I gonna try http://www.vegetarian-cooking-recipes-tips.com/mint-chutney.html :)

Hope I won't spoil it at least next time :)

Recent movies I really enjoyed

It has been a hiatus of 2 months from my last visit to my blog. And I am breaking it now.

Just thought I could write a post on three of the recent movies I really enjoyed watching.

1. Vaagai Soodae Vaa

                A well directed movie depicting the reality of poor state of needy in the middle of this centenary. Simple and good story. "Sir" (Vimal) wants to become a government teacher per his father's wishes. As a step towards it, teaching to poor students of a distant village through a private organization would help him get a certificate which in turn will help in fetching Govt. job. Rest of the story revolves around how he manages to stay there, educates kids and wins heart of a village girl. Though the movie is pretty well predictable in the first 10 minutes of the movie, the screenplay and direction is good. Practicality is what I like the most in the movie. Worth the time.

2. Engeyum eppothum

                An awesome romantic movie. The climax is the first scene. But quite unpredictable ! Story writer knows exactly how he could make people pinned to the seats till the end. Story is very simple and practical too. It is all about two pair of lovers. The first pair is of a Chennai typical city guy and an innocent but brilliant village girl who comes to Chennai in search of a good job. As a first time visitor to the city she takes the help of a stranger (Vimal) in getting her to her sister's home. The guy is decent and manages to help the girl. She falls in love with him. Even he feels the same. But they go apart without knowing the whereabouts of each other !

The second pair - a workshop worker and a nurse ! What a pair :) The way they become lovers is really funny. But practical.

I personally like the first pair. Especially because of cute Ananya :) Her expressions are just awesome.

Though the story has a tragic ending I like the practicality in it. Again a movie worth the watch.

3. Rowthiram

Another heroic movie for Jeeva next to Ko. A good story line and has an awesome song "maalai mangum neram". The story still though is not practical. So I don't like it much. Worth watching once for Jeeva.

Tamil film industry is booming with young intelligent directors. Hoping it to grow healthier :)

60 days of stay in Bangalore

This post is about the Bangalore moments I miss now.

My "MA in yoga" exams were spread across two weekends with an idle weekend in between. I cannot obviously take leave from work for 2 weeks. Hence I planned to work from Bangalore branch of Deloitte for 2 weeks. Then I had to stretch it for some more time owing to personal reasons. Though this 2 months of time is short compared to my 2 years of corporate life in Hyderabad, it is awesome to think upon.

Now I do miss a lot of Bangalore moments.

1. Alpine Eco stay with friends.
2. ID dosa batter :)
3. SKY, never enjoyed the beauty of it in any other place, especially the 10th floor room view.
4. AC buses - just love the travel in them though costly.
5. Lunch with Ashwin at Bharathi and Bhagini restaurants.
6. Even though I have played just once with Karthi - Squash at Alpine.
7. Ashwin's banana dish - really yummy.
8. Office cateria paratha with veg curry.
9. Fruit juice shop nearby office.
10. Cane juice shop nearby office.

Hoping for a longer stay in Bangalore in the near future :)

Just a come back !

It is been quite a long time since I posted last. While thinking of doing something interesting got the idea of posting a blog :-)

Let me write about the corporate life since June 29th 2009.

Days are really busy with work occupying most of mind space. With an experience of 20 months in corporate world I have learnt a lot professionally and socially.

Corporate world to me is just an extension of college life with one exception that is I am earning :-) Learning is there each and every day in corporate world as like in college life. If you like challenges then surely IT field will best suit you. Sky is the limit. Be it professional life or social life you will be challenged with difficult situations at any time. You have to take the decisions on your own. Your career growth depends very importantly on the rate you take the right decisions.

Very few good things I have done so far !!! Just thought of putting them here to rekindle my own interests on those lines.

1. Went to an orphanage (six months back I think) which is located around 12 kilometers from the place I reside. Around 30 kids were there; their ages ranging from 3 to 15. A single guy is running this orphanage in his own place. So no rent problem. But for food and education of the children he was finding it difficult. His name is Nutan. Amidst those who keep piling their riches, this guy is quite different. Hats off to this guy. Made a small contribution I was able to at that time.

2. It was in another two weeks I had a chance to visit another orphanage. This one is near JNTU in Kukatpally. A guy around the age of 45 was in the place. He welcomed me with a question on his face ! I introduced myself and started inquiring about the orphanage. There were a lot of students all having books in their hands. I once again felt heavy that day for the lives of those kids. Left the place of with a different feeling.

To be contd..

Been a long time since i blogged. These days I started dancing :) Totally i think there are three major performances i have done so far in a span of 4 months. The first one was the "One Family Day" event. It was awesome. We managed to reach the finals. The second performance was for Diwali celebrations. We did a Bhangra. And now the third one is on ITS (my team) celebrations held in N Convention. Below is the costume we used for the ITS celebrations' event.

To print input till output is 42 !

This is a just a problem I found in CodeChef (Thanks a ton to Bittu for introducing this site to me :-)) :-)

Problem :

Your program is to use the brute-force approach in order to find the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. More precisely... rewrite small numbers from input to output. Stop processing input after reading in the number 42. All numbers at input are integers of one or two digits.

Code I have tried :

using System;

namespace LifeTheUniverse
{
    class ClsCodeChef1
    {
        static void Main()
        {
            int a = 0, i = 0;
            int[] b = new int[1];
            Console.WriteLine("Input:");
            while (a != 42)
            {
                a = Convert.ToInt32(Console.ReadLine());
                b[i] = a;
                i++;
                Array.Resize(ref b, i + 1);
            }
            Console.WriteLine("Output:");
            for (int j = 0; j < i - 1; j++)
                Console.WriteLine(b[j]);
            Console.Read();
        }
    }
}

Mynaa

Awesome movie

A very decent movie with lot of turning points.

As a whole the movie is good. But has lot of flaws with many scenes.

The lead female actor's (Amala) mom addresses the lead actor (Vidharth) as "marumagan" meaning son-in-law from the day he helped her and her daughter. But why is she not willing to get her daughter married to him ? I feel this is the first flaw.

Vidharth was hand cuffed with the sub inspector till the restaurant scene, which I don't think is not practical. The bus accident scene was not appealing. But it was needed to create the bond between Vidharth, ins and sub-ins.

The movie should have had a positive end. Just to have a negative climax, the climax is messed up.

On reaching Peria Kulam, sub-ins should have taken Amala with him and should have ended it positively.

After Amala suicided (she should not have done this ! I don't understand why she suicided), Vidharth also ended his life. After this, the ins kills his wife and her brothers, father (What the heck !!! The scene well shows  how anger can turn down any person).

The ins's wife should be rational. Atleast for being a police personnel's wife, she should have understood him atleast a little. The inspector character is very good. He showed the right emotions. The sub ins, as the experience speaks, really showed maturity for his experience in the field.

Overall the movie is worth watching.

A good job from Prabhu Soloman.

Growing Good Corn

Another nice article from an office mail :

There was a Nebraska farmer who grew award-winning corn. Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won a blue ribbonhttp://kona.kontera.com/javascript/lib/imgs/grey_loader.gif
...
One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors. "How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?" the reporter asked.

"Why sir," said the farmer, "didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn."

He is very much aware of the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor's corn also improves.

So it is in other dimensions. Those who choose to be at peace must help their neighbors to be at peace. Those who choose to live well must help others to live well, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others to find happiness for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.

If we are to grow good corn, we must help our neighbors grow good corn.

Love and Time

Another wonderful article got in an office mail :

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love. Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment. When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, “Richness, can you take me with you?”Richness answered, “No, I can’t. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you.”Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. “Vanity, please help me!”
“I can’t help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat,” Vanity answered. Sadness was close by so Love asked, “Sadness, let me go with you.”
“Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!”

Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

Suddenly, there was a voice, “Come, Love, I will take you.” It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, “Who Helped me?”
“It was Time,” Knowledge answered.
“Time?” asked Love. “But why did Time help me?”
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, “Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is.”
