Today, Sep 26 2009, is the first day when I prepared food at home. Since my stay at hyderabad this is the first time I am cooking on my own. It's been almost two months since I boarded this home at Miyapur. We are totally four in number staying at this home. And I am the only south Indian:) Rishi and Vishal are from Jharkhand. And Mishal is from West Bengal. When I say this I could remember my first semester in hostel. It was August 15, 2009, a sunday, the first day when I stepped into PSG Tech Hostels. I was allotted the room G-114. It was a 4 member room in ground floor. To my surprise all others were north indians. Two from Arunachal Pradesh and one from Himachal Pradesh. Milli Riba and Niladri were CSC students and Neeraj Sharma was into Textile.I was famous at hostel for being into a room like that.
Back to today... I woke up at 12 pm, pretty enough to prove that I am a bachelor:) I was not that hungry that time. I planned to cook. Till the last monday one of my friend's mom was at home. She is Rishi(one of my room-mates)'s mom. She considered each one of us in the home as her son and we all enjoyed all the varieties of food she made. Off all the food she made I like chowpathi. The way she makes it is simply great. I learnt it as an onlooker. Now after she has gone home it's pretty difficult really. For the past four days I didn't prepare at home. I had it at office cafeteria. Today being an holiday made me to cook at home. I don't go with the concept of having food at restaurant or mess. I am much concerned about the quality of the food. After all health is wealth. And obviously it's the quality of the food which makes us healthy. All these insisted me to cook at home.
The dish I prepared is nothing but the chowpathi which I like the most when it is prepared the way Rishi's mom cooks. I planned to cook the same way. I had to buy vegetable oil, tomato, chilly. Reliance Fresh, which is located just at a stone's throw helped me to get these. I planned to first cook the side dish and then chowpathi. It was excellent really:) I liked it. My roommates called to have lunch outside. I told them I wanted to cook at home. Since they were hungry they left. When I finished cooking they popped up at the door step. I told to taste it. The feedback was good:) Thank god, I made an eatable dish.
At this point I want to stress an important point. WE ARE WHAT WE EAT. Only few can understand this sentence. But it's absolutely true. To validate, think about how you have grown. It's the food which we eat transforms into flesh, bone, muscle and everything. Isn't it? If this is the case, think how important is the food we take. I can remember this scene from the serial, SITHI. It's a popular tamizh serial. I can say that it is this serial which gave rise to a serial revolution in Tamil Nadu. The lead actors are Sivakumar(Surya's father) and Radhika. In one scene, Sivakumar's son expressed his concern over eating home made food. He wanted to have food outside. Sivakumar tells, "People at hotel prepare food for money. They never consider customer's health. But when mom prepares food she will be cooking with affection." These words are very true. When you take food prepared with affection you will gain strength obviously. In the end, only love matters. LOVE IS GOD.
